In our recent Assertive Communication Workshop, the One-Way Two-Way Communication exercise helped our participants realize the value of two-way communication in achieving better results. When communication flows both ways, there’s more clarity, less guesswork, and stronger collaboration.
The session also rediscovered the 12 most common communication barriers in the workplace. These barriers, such as Frames of Reference, Jargon, Selective Listening, Filtering, etc., often lead to misunderstandings and frustration.
But our participants didn’t stop there—they actively identified practical ways to overcome each one. Techniques like asking clarifying questions, giving constructive feedback, and staying calm under pressure were just some of the ideas shared.
This workshop reminded everyone that assertive communication isn’t just about expressing yourself clearly—it’s also about creating space for others to respond, contribute, and be heard. That’s what two-way communication is all about.
