“Today’s problem came from yesterday’s solution” – Peter Senge
Many of today’s challenges are complex and cannot be tackled with the narrowly-focused, unconnected thinking of the past. Managers must be capable of seeing the big picture and must make decisions and take action in complex environments in which finance, economics, clients, people and nature are interconnected and interdependent. In addition, this messy interconnections blurs the boundaries between organizations, communities and fields of expertise.
ExeQserve designed a program that will introduce participants to systems and systems thinking which was facilitated by Mr. Edwin Ebreo for Meralco. Through this workshop, Ed taught the learners of Meralco to consider the merits of looking at wholes, rather than unconnected parts, and they explored ways in which they can make use of the nature of systems, even in complex, unpredictable environments, to influence outcomes in a more profound way than can be achieved with “linear” or “mechanistic” thinking.
Systems thinking is the ability to comprehend and address the whole and to examine the interrelationship between the parts provided for both the incentive and the means to integrate various disciplines in the organization.
“The harder you push, the harder the system pushes back.”
This program aims to help leaders embrace systems thinking and equip them with necessary knowledge and tools to come up with a plan that are aligned with the organizational strategies, establish a mechanism for effective monitoring, creating accountability and contingency planning.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” – Albert Einstein
